  1. Strains and Sprains – By far the most common of all sports injuries, strains and sprains can happen even to those who don’t engage in sports. A bad fall, the wrong footing, or even just going off balance can cause these injuries. A sprain occurs when a ligament, or the band of tissue that connects a bone to another bone, stretches beyond its limits. A strain on the other hand works under the same principle only instead of ligaments getting overstretched, muscles get the brunt. These are common in the wrist, ankles, and knees, and can range greatly in terms of severity. A visit to your doctor can be necessary if the pain is overwhelming.
